James B. Camm, born Nov. 18, 1919, Detroit, MI, attended two years
of college and enlisted in the USN Nov. 30, 1937. After boot camp he
was assigned to the USS West Virginia.
After the attack on Pearl
Harbor had TDY in the USS Pelius. After a month he was returned to the
West Virginia to work in the salvage operations. Following the raising
and modernization of the West Virginia, he served on board until 1944.
He has all the usual medals. Camm retired from the service in June 1957.
He
and his wife, Cecilia, have two sons, two daughters and nine
grandchildren. He worked for TRW Systems; for General Motors Defense
Lab; and for NAVFACENGCOM at Port Hueneme.
