James E. Alley, Chief Petty Officer, born Dec. 1, 1914, Nashville, TN, completed junior high school and business college.  He joined the USN June 28, 1938, and was stationed at SBPH, Air Base PH, Johnson Island, ACORM Unit and CUB Unit.

Memorable experiences include the battles at Iwo Jima and Okinawa and the air bases on four SP islands.  Discharged in July 1958 with the rank of chief petty officer.  He received the WWII Victory Medal, Purple Heart and Iwo Jima Medal.  

Married, he has two children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Employed in the heating and air conditioning business.  He lives in Lafayette, IN and enjoys traveling.
