USS West Virginia Veteran

Welford Charles Blinn served as a division officer aboard the USS West Virginia in the 1930s.  He became a Japanese prisoner of war when the ship he was commanding, USS Pope (DD-225), was sunk by the Japanese on March 1, 1942. He was awarded the Navy Cross 3 times, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
