Robert Blieden, Lieutenant Commander, born in Memphis, TN, joined the USNR July 10,1940, as an ensign. He served aboard the USS West Virginia and was captain of an LST for 2 3/4 years.  Memorable events include being aboard the USS West Virginia during the attack. He received a medallion for being aboard the ship. He was discharged in March 1946 with the rank of lieutenant commander.  He was a doctor of medicine from 1951 until retiring in 1984. He lives with his wife in Memphis, TN. They have two children.
