Norman C. Martin
Norman C. Martin, Lieutenant(jg), born Feb. 15, 1909, Mount Olive,
MS, completed high school and joined the USN on Dec. 15, 1930. He
served aboard the USS Washington (BB-56); USS Attu (CVE-102); USS
Warrick (AKA-89); USS Ajax; New Orleans, 8th Naval District; Treasure
Island, San Francisco; two tours on Guam; attended Refrigeration
School, San Diego, CA; and Compressed Gases School, Portsmouth, VA.
Discharged Dec. 14, 1953, with the rank of lieutenant(jg). Decorations
and medals include the Good Conduct Medal, China Service Medal, Navy
Occupation Service Medal w/Asia Clasp, Korean Service Medal, American
Defense Award, WWII Victory Medal and a medal issued by Russia for
Murmansk Convoy.
Married Beth and has one child and one grandchild. He enjoys gardening and all sports.
