Willard Joseph Swartzendruber, PFC USMC, served aboard the Wee Vee between 28 Jan 1929 and 20 Oct 1930. The great stock market crash occurred during this period and he was given a hardship discharge ("discharged for his own convenience") because his family back in Iowa was in dire straits.
