Herman F. Wipper was born on April 10, 1922, in Palmer Township of Sherburne County.  He grew up in the Sherburne County area.  During World War II, he served in the U. S. Navy from March 7, 1944, to April 9, 1946, in the Pacific Theater aboard the battleship USS West Virginia and was present in Tokyo Bay at the signing of the peace agreement.  Following his service to his country, he returned to the Hasty area where he bought his farm and started his dairy operation. He was united in marriage to Lois Repke on June 14, 1948.  They were married for 55 years, and raised four children, three daughters and one son.   He lived and farmed all his life in Hasty until his death on October 13, 2003.
