This is in regards to my father, Frank B. Walker, who served on the USS
West Virginia soon after his enlistment in the United States Navy. I have
his Continuous Service Certificate book, and it indicates that he finished
his introductory training in San Diego, California, at the US Navy
Training Station on June 11, 1926. He reported aboard the USS West
Virginia on June 30, 1926, and he left the USS West Virginia on April 25,
1931. He was discharged from the Navy at that time and then re-enlisted
after a leave. He then reported for duty on the USS Argonne, all in San
Pedro, California. That re-enlistment was the beginning of his twenty year
career in the Navy. Over his twenty years, he served on the following
ships:
