Don Seibold, Lieutenant(jg), born Sept. 20, 1922, Ackley, IA,
received his BS degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State and
joined the USNR in October 1942; graduated from the USNA Reserve
Engineers School in Annapolis and was assigned to the USS West Virginia
prior to the shakedown cruise. While on board the Wee Vee, he served in all four engineering
divisions; initially as junior division officer in the E (electrical)
Div; next as a junior division officer in B (boiler) Div.; then as
junior division officer in A (auxiliary) Div; and finally as division
officer in M (main drive machinery) Div. Discharged in June 1946, with the rank of lieutenant(jg). He received
the same awards as the others aboard the USS West Virginia, 1944-46. Retired from AT&T as a senior staff engineer in October 1985. He
and his wife, Dee, live in Broomfleld, CO. They have three children and
four grandchildren, all living in the Denver, CO, area. He enjoys
hunting, fishing, wood working and traveling.
