John R. Raiche, 1st Sergeant, born June 20, 1921, Antigo, WI, and joined the USMC March 24, 1942, serving with the 7th Marine Detachment.
Stations include MCRD San Diego; onboard BB-48, September 1942-July 1945; Co. B, Marine Barracks, Pearl Harbor; Philippine Islands, Lingayen Gulf, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Surigao Strait and Leyte Gulf.
Drill instructor, MCB San Diego. He was discharged September 1945-March 1946.
Awards include Asiatic-Pacific w/ 4 stars, Philippine Liberation, Good Conduct and Iwo Jima.
Worked 40 years for NW Bell Telephone Co. and retired in December 1985, as service supervisor. Married and has two sons, two daughters. He is currently doing volunteer community service.
