Reidar W. "Pete" Peterson, Sergeant, born March 3, 1922, LaCrosse, WI. He joined the USMC Feb. 18, 1942, and was stationed twice in San Diego, CA; Pearl Harbor and in USS West Virginia.

Participated in battles with the enemy from July 1944-July 1945. Sgt. Peterson was discharged Sept. 18, 1945. His awards include the Expert Rifle and Sharpshooter.

Married Kay Borne Sept. 5, 1943, while the ship was in Bremerton for repairs. They have two children and five grandchildren. Employed as buttermaker, he was production manager in a dairy. Pete passed away July 4, 1969, while on vacation in Wyoming from a massive coronary.
