USS West Virginia Veteran

Charles W. Loving, Macninist Mate 3/c, born July 15, 1924, Roseland, VA, graduated high school and attended technical courses.  Joined the USN March 8, 1944; and was stationed aboard USS West Virginia; and later the USS Atlanta.

    Memorable experiences include Leyte Gulf, Iwo Jima and the Philippines.  Discharged June 8, 1946, with rank of MM3/c.  Received the Asiatic-Pacific Award, WWII Victory Medal, etc.  Married Earlean and has two children and four grandchildren.  He worked as a police officer and vice president of Lynchburg Gas Co. He enjoys fishing, golf and gardening.
