William Howard Hanks, Petty Officer 2/c, born Aug. 5, 1915,
Lexington, KY. Joined the military (Band) Aug. 17, 1943, and was
stationed at Great Lakes, San Diego and in West Virginia.
Memorable experience was after Battle of Surigao when he watched Gen.
MacArthur sign the peace terms. Discharged Nov. 8, 1945, as petty
officer 2/c. His awards include the American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific
Ribbon w/4 stars, Victory Medal and Philippine Liberation w/2 stars.
Married Maxine and they have one child. His hobby is music.
