James H. Geitz, Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman, born Oct. 7, 1921, Nokomis, IL. Graduated high school and attended various Navy schools. Joined the USN Dec. 5, 1939, and was stationed in USS West Virginia (BB-48) on Dec. 7, 1941; plus several ships and stations during career.

Most notable eight years of his career was being an assistant to the attending physician of the US Congress in the US Capitol Building.

Geitz retired Aug. 1, 1959. His awards and medals include the Pearl Harbor Medal, American Defense (Fleet) plus all the usual medals given at that time.

Married Jean and they have three children and six grandchildren. After military retirement, he took up farming. His hobbies are gems and minerals.
