I hope that your dad is well and that he or you would enjoy seeing pictures of the guys way back when...before and after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Dad played the sax and clarinet and was the guest hornman with the USS Arizona band on Dec.6th in the Battle of the Bands..Why the Wee Vee band did not participate that evening I don't know. The Arizona band won the competition. They were rewarded by their Captain with the treat of being able to sleep late...none of them survived. Dad was the only member from the winning band to survive...although he was a guest player he was friends with and had great respect for all the wonderful musicians in the USS Arizona band. Dad spoke of all his bandmates and so I know of your dad. I knew Gaylod Pierce, Edgar French, Keith Hill, Tippets and Shellman. I hope To hear from you or anyone else who's interested in the USS West Virginia Band. Dad kept several articles about the band and many interesting pictures...I know alot of the people in the pictures but there are many faces I don't hopefully I can post them and someone will fill in the gaps.
