This has no relation to your post however latter on... much after WEST VIRGINIA was decomissioned it was later brought back to life as a submarine USS WEST VIRGINIA (SSBN 736) and I was aboard this "boat" and am glad that I could carry on the submarine tradition. Don't know as how as I was possibly related. Rest assurd that BAUER is a name that will be in submarine history for time
