My dad was also on the weevee as a drummer in the band that day(Howard Hare). He lives in fla. now. I will talk to him and e-mail to you his response. I grew up with a ww2 Navy dad and through the years have learned much about this ship and crew.He was also in the band, but was trained with band 22 assigned to the Arizona. Through a fluke he was stationed on the WV, while his class-mates went off to their fate. As the son of a weevee sailor, you and your dad owe your lives to Claude Ricketts, the man who expertly counter-flooded the ship without orders. The WV should have rolled over like the Oklahoma did. We have much to discuss, I will e-mail you at gnj4@aol.com when I get some time to talk to my dad. Any questions you have about this ship, I would be honored to answer. Few discuss Pearl Harbor-the next generation, but I invariably find people with the same views and out-look on life that only a "Navy dad" could instill-Roger Hare
